The ever-desirable, eternally fashionable W123 (S123) Estate.
This 230TE is in the fabulous combination of Champagne metallic with contrasting red cloth interior. A very striking combination. It also is unusually equipped with the rare five-speed manual gearbox, which, together with the fuel-injected 230 engine, gives it good performance, relaxed high-speed cruising and relatively parsimonious fuel consumption.

The estate has lived just off the King’s Road, Chelsea for the past 27 years in the hands of just one owner. A gentleman who loved the car very much.

It has three previous owners and, when new, was purchased by an RAF Officer stationed in Germany.

Factory equipment includes the desirable seven-seat option, Mexican hat 6×14 alloy wheels, uprated suspension and a factory tow bar. It has its original books/manuals and some service history.

The current MoT certificate runs until October 2017 and the car is running, driving and starts first time. We have driven her over 100 miles in conditions ranging from city traffic to open motorway.

This W123 would make a great restoration/rolling restoration project. Thanks to spending the last 27 years in salt-free central London, the body is remarkably solid underneath – see the photos, with good sills, jacking points and rear wheel arches that are original and filler-free. The running gear also appears to be in healthy condition – the engine runs sweetly (timing chain has been replaced) and there are no apparent problems with the clutch, gearbox, differential, suspension or brakes.

However, the car does need some restoration. The body will need work, the paintwork is old and the interior is showing its age. Please see the photos for a full appraisal.

The estate form of the W123 chassis is by far the most desirable as they are so stylish and practical. They are also the hardest to find. This example has a great specification and has been in the hands of one owner for 27 years. It will make a fantastic project.
