One of the most sought after Mercedes of this era, the C126 SEC Coupé offered all the attributes of the eight-cylinder S-Class saloon but clothed in one of the most elegant, resolved pillar-less bodies to wear the three-pointed star. A true gentleman’s express.

This late 420SEC has covered more miles than some but, and it’s a big but, it has a Full Mercedes-Benz Service History showing 39 services from new, comprising of 35 stamps in the book (until the book ran out of space) and five subsequent invoices from Mercedes Dorchester. The car has been looked after by Malaya, Bromley and Dorchester throughout its life. In addition, there is a folder of bills and receipts and all original books and manuals.
Recent work at MB includes a new radiator, brake calipers, discs and pads, fitting rear parking sensors and a DAB radio. We have just serviced the car and carried out all immediately required work.
HPI clear with certificate, and in the hands of its last keeper for ten years.

The SEC is finished in the beautiful colour scheme of Midnight Blue with Mushroom leather interior, and equipped with cruise control, air conditioning, electric/heated seats and so on, as you might expect.

As the pictures show the car presents very well and looks very smart indeed. The paintwork is excellent bar a couple of very small blemishes and the bumper chromes are free from corrosion. Importantly the panel under the rear window has been replaced to a very high standard and the rear screen replaced too, so the car is rust free in this critical area.
Similarly, the interior is in very good order indeed. The only real detriment being the headlining, which is sagging slightly.

Mechanically, thanks to a lifetime of unstinting maintenance, the engine runs very well and maintains excellent oil pressure, the gearbox changes smoothly and the differential is quiet.

This is a car that will suit an enthusiast who is looking for an SEC to use, enjoy and improve should they wish. It has 12 months MoT and is a ‘on the button’, running and driving car.

A fantastic opportunity to buy a very attractive 420SEC at a very reasonable price.
