This early R170 SLK Kompressor certainly stands out in its bright ‘Yellowstone’ paint, contrasted by a rather more sober black leather interior. It’s the most powerful iteration of the early SLK with the 2.3-litre Kompressor engine developing 190BHP, coupled to Mercedes’ five-speed automatic gearbox
Supplied new in Japan when the model was first released, this SLK was imported into the UK in 2008 and has subsequently had just one lady owner and covered 148K kms from new. The speedometer is in MPH, though.
Full service history comes with the car, starting with the Japanese maintenance book/sheets, then all invoices since being in the UK showing the car has been serviced annually and covered very few miles.
In recent years the following work has been carried out – reconditioned gearbox (£1620), new catalytic convertor (genuine MB), new MAF sensor, new headlining (genuine MB, £400), refurbished alloy wheels. We serviced the car last year and fitted a new battery.
Runs and drives well, the electric folding roof works as it should. A reliable car that we have known for the last eight years.
The great thing about this SLK is that doesn’t have the usual corrosion. As you can see on the pictures the rear arches are perfect, and it is excellent underneath too.
The car would benefit from a little cosmetic attention as it’s now in its twentieth year – some paint fade, scuffs and chips, and a small tear in the driver’s seat.
Ready to drive and enjoy. These early SLKs are great value at the moment.
