This W123 230E has covered an incredible 15,149 miles from new and had just two keepers.

Sold new by Prestage of Birmingham, the first owner covered just over 12k miles by 1987 when the car was covered up and dry stored. When discovered in 2009, its second owner recommissioned the car before sparingly driving it a further 3000 miles.

The car still wears its original main dealer (Prestage) number plates and tax disc holder, and retains its original dealer-fit Blaupunkt stereo system.

Having covered such a tiny mileage the condition of this W123 is exceptional and highly original. The paintwork is 90% original and in superb order. Crucially the body has zero corrosion – the rear wheel arches and sills are original and perfect. Having been stored inside, all the rubber components such as the door seals are original, soft and free from the usual deterioration.

Even the tyres are the original Michelins fitted at the factory.

The interior is in ‘as new’ condition. It even smells new. The grain on the steering wheel is very sharp and the seats and carpets unmarked. The only sign of age is small amount of shrinkage to the vinyl trim on the glovebox lid.

In recent years the exhaust system, ignition components and front brake discs and pads have been replaced. We have given the car a major service including engine oil and filter, transmission fluid and filter, differential oil, brake fluid and coolant change along with new air and fuel filters. In addition, we have replaced the rear brake discs and pads.

The car comes with all its original books, manual and literature.

As you might expect with such low miles the W123 drives beautifully – like a new one, you might say. The 230E is thought by many, ourselves included, to be the sweet spot of the W123 range. It delivers good performance without the weight, thirst and complexity of the six-cylinder models.

Golden Brown is something of a ‘Marmite’ colour, however we love these period-perfect shades. In the flesh it looks fabulous.

To find a lower mileage, more original W123 in such fantastic condition would be extremely hard. This must be one of the lowest mileage examples out there. We don’t know if we will ever find another like this.

Perfect for a collector.
