A truly superb example of the now rare SLC model, Mercedes top-flight personal coupe of the later seventies.
Finished in Astral Silver with Navy blue interior, a classic combination that accentuates this car’s elegant lines.

Being a ‘380’ from the latter part of the model’s run, it benefits from the all alloy M116 engine and four-speed automatic gearbox.
It is also a particularly well-equipped car with cruise control, factory air conditioning and leather interior.

In 1994, after two owners and 86k miles, the SLC was acquired by a senior Mercedes engineer who carried out a full restoration. This comprised of a full mechanical overhaul, complete interior retrim and a body restoration that included bulkhead repair, both front wings, both sills and both complete rear quarters, all using new genuine MB panels, before a repaint in its original Astral Silver.

During the rebuild a few subtle upgrades were incorporated, including facelift R107 15-inch 15-hole alloy wheels and front air dam. The seats were retrimmed in the style of the later SEC, and the original steering wheel was replaced by a W124 Sportline style wheel. The air conditioning has also been converted to R134a gas.

The project was a labour of love by a Mercedes-trained professional and enthusiast and remained in his hands until 2011, when it passed to a close friend of his, so it has been in his care for the last 23 years. Since restoration the car has always been dry garaged and covered just 7700 dry miles.

The car presents today in exceptional condition throughout. Unmarked paintwork, brightwork and wheels (wearing new Michelin tyres) complimented by a beautiful interior, free from any signs of wear.
On the road the car drives particularly well, and is the perfect long-distance grand tourer with seating for four.

A photographic record of the restoration comes with the car along with a large file of accompanying bills, ownership record/history and previous MoT certificates. The private registration plate pictured is included with the sale too.

In short, this is a thoroughly and expertly sorted SLC in quite fantastic condition, and great value for a pillar-less Mercedes coupé of the classic era.
