This beautiful R107 350SL stands out from the crowd thanks to its oh-so-70s Icon Gold paintwork. Not to mention its superb condition, thanks to the careful custody of one owner from new until 2017, and recent sympathetic restoration.
Supplied new by Jacksons of Jersey in the warm and wealthy Channel Islands, this eight-cylinder SL was specified with Icon Gold paintwork, Mushroom MB Tex interior and a contrasting chocolate brown fabric hood. It wears the attractive period painted hubcaps and retains its factory hardtop.
Having left its St. Helier home in 2017 to come to the mainland, the SL was treated to a light restoration, including a complete repaint, with photographic record – the photos show how remarkably free of corrosion the car was. Since then the car has been used sparingly by enthusiast owners on fine days. In its 41 years only 82,748 miles have been covered.
Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) exempt, MoT exempt and tax exempt as a historic vehicle.
As the photographs show this SL is in absolutely beautiful condition throughout. The body is unmarked, the cream MB Tex is in wonderful original condition along with the Zebrano wood trim. The underside is corrosion free and well protected.
On the road it is a pleasure – roof down with the relaxed gait that typifies this era of SL, there are few more stylish and refined ways of touring. This example drives particularly well.
All original books/manuals come with the car along with a full service history detailed in the maintenance booklet.
These earlier R107 SLs are increasingly desirable, offering more classic looks and wild 70s colours, not to mention ULEZ exemption.
In summary, a superbly cared for SL, great colours, provenance and condition. What better way to enjoy the summer?
