An incredible time warp W126 380SEL in ultra rare Mango Green with green velour that has covered just 58k miles from new in the hands of just two owners.

Mango Green was a colour only available on the very first W126 models from 1979 until 1982, amongst some other equally vibrant colours such as Apricot and Cactus Green. It’s a colour very rarely seen, but today, together with the green interior just seems period perfect and wonderfully retro.

Ordered from the factory by a Mr Charlesworth, who was at the time working in the Middle East, and first registered by Majestic Garage of Bournemouth, this 380SEL remained in his ownership until 2010. Other cars came and went but the S-Class remained his pride and joy, was always garaged and scrupulously looked after. In the hands of its second keeper, a Mercedes collector, the car has been carefully dry stored and used sparingly.

The full options list is detailed below but its key options are velour upholstery, Becker Mexico stereo, electric driver’s seat, anti-lock brakes, electric windows and a factory fit tow bar.

There is a fantastic, complete history file with the car, starting with all correspondence between the Mercedes factory and Mr Charlesworth when ordering the car. Original bill of sale, service receipts and all original books and manuals.
We have just carried out a major service, renewing all fluids/filters and refreshing the brakes.

The condition is quite incredible and the car is very original. Unmarked paintwork, brightwork and zero corrosion throughout. The interior is quite simply amazing – one of the best W126 interiors we have seen with no wear, fading or signs of age.

No modifications or alterations – it is still wearing its rarely seen 14” wheels trims, the Becker Mexico remains inside and the detachable tow bar has never been used and remains inside its protective bag.

Drives superbly, exactly as it should and is a wonderful machine to waft about in.

While the car is currently registered in the Channel Isles, it will be registered back to UK plates for its next owner.

Early pre-facelift examples of the W126 – perhaps the best S-Class Mercedes ever made – are few and far between, particularly in this condition. With only two owners, 58k miles and with a superb provenance, this is amongst the best there is.
