Model: W126 560SEL

Colour: Nautic Blue

Interior:  Grey Leather

Odometer: 142,612 Miles

Top of the Mercedes tree, the 560SEL was the most powerful and luxurious saloon car available from Mercedes, or indeed any other manufacturer in the eighties. This was the magnificent W126 S-Class in its ultimate, money-no-object form and therefore the 560 is the most sought after model today.

This 560SEL is in a particularly desirable specification. Finished in Nautic Blue metallic with grey leather interior, it’s a non catalyst model with the ‘enhanced power output’ 822 option code making 300bhp, and doesn’t have the troublesome ASR traction control that some had.

First registered on July 10th 1987 by Normand-Cruickshank of Bristol, this S-Class came with a full specification as standard – on the 560 most optional extras came as standard – including air conditioning, cruise control, electric memory front seats and electrically adjustable rear seat, to name a few of its features.

The mileage stands today at a sensible 142k miles. All original books and manuals come with the car along with full service history – the service book contains 31 stamps from main dealers and specialists, plus a folder full of invoices and old MoTs. The car has evidently been well looked after – matching Michelin tyres all round, new timing chain tensioner and guides, new suspension spheres, steering box reseal, AC regas and plenty of other recent work. MoT until March 2019.

The body is clean, tidy and very presentable as the pictures show but would need a little work to the wheel arches to improve it. Pleasingly the original extended 560 front wings are still in place. The underside of the car is in excellent order with no corrosion and recently replaced self-levelling lines.

The interior is in superb condition thoughout. The leather is supple and unworn and the woodwork bright and glossy. The rear footrests are still present and high quality over-mats are fitted to protect the unmarked carpets.

Overall this is a very honest, evidently well cared for car. If you’re looking for a W126 the 560 is very much the one to have but not at all easy to find. With a little attention from a new owner this will be a superb example. On the road and ready to go, this is the perfect example to drive, enjoy and improve for the enthusiast who wants the ultimate W126.
