This lovely 190E is a perfect example of a classic that can be used on a daily basis.
First registered in June 1991, this 190E was specified with the injected 2.0-litre coupled to a four-speed automatic gearbox – the best combination available amongst the ‘normal’ 190s – and finished in Pearl Blue metallic with complementing dark blue cloth interior.
In terms of options it has the full-length dashboard console with cassette storage, electric windows all round, catalytic convertor and a power sunroof.
Supplied new by Drayton of Shrewsbury, this 190E has subsequently covered 121,987 miles backed up by 20 services. All original books/manuals are present and a folder of paperwork.
All original with no modifications. Even the original ‘dealer fit’ radio/cassette remains.
As the pictures show this 190E is very clean and tidy inside and out. The paintwork is very good indeed and the interior is excellent with none of the usual seat bolster wear and excellent Zebrano woodwork. Only a small area of the driver’s door card/armrest shows its age.
On the road it drives very nicely with the wonderful compliant ride that these cars do so well. It’s comfortable and has plenty of performance from its 2-litre engine.
Mercedes were determined that their new small car should be every bit as good as their traditional larger vehicles. As such these W201 models are extremely well built and, with proper maintenance, offer practicality, style and reliability as a modern classic and can be used with ease as an everyday car.
This original example has great colours, a good specification and has evidently been looked after. It is ready to go for its next owner.
