A highly specified petrol W124 estate (or S124) is one of Mercedes great ‘do anything’ cars. It combines tremendous practicality – particularly the seven-seat version – with luxury, refinement, performance and an understated elegance that’s been lost on more recent models.

Over twenty years has passed since the last was sold new in the UK, and despite their quality and inherent reliability, most have been driven into the ground, so exceptional examples are sought after.

This 1994 E320 Estate is a very high specification example with low miles (66k miles), great colours and in superb condition – a very rare thing to find.

Finished in Blue Black (199) with black leather and equipped with all the key options, including, air conditioning, seven seats, electric heated front seats, cruise control, electric steering column, airbags and outside temperature gauge. The full list is below.

Supplied new in Japan, this E320 came to the UK in 2016 and previously supplied by ourselves. Having spent the majority of its life in the substantially kinder climate of Japan, where salt is not used on the roads and vehicle servicing is mandatory as part of their much stricter ‘MoT’, this 124 estate is in a condition that far surpasses examples we see that have been in the UK from new. They are very rare to find in right-hand drive as it was more prestigious to drive a left-hand drive Mercedes.

The car is absolutely corrosion free, the underside is immaculate and the exterior paintwork is unmarked. It retains the correct satin Alto Grey lower half and the original eight-hole alloy wheels have been refurbished and shod with new premium Goodyear tyres all round.

The interior is in lovely condition throughout. No bolster wear and no signs of wear to the load compartment, commensurate with the car’s careful usage and low miles. In addition to the considerable standard equipment, once in the UK the last owner spent circa £2k upgrading the stereo equipment with integrated sat nav, including fitting a reverse camera that’s also integrated into the stereo.

Recently this estate has had a precautionary head gasket replacement, along with replacement of the rubber fuel hoses and vacuum lines using only genuine Mercedes parts as verified by the invoices. The speedometer has been converted to miles per hour.

On the road it drives beautifully. Powerful, quiet and refined with the superb ride and poise these cars are famed for. With cold air conditioning, cruise control and a smooth automatic gearbox, you can cover lots of miles in total relaxation.

If you’re looking for one of these fabulous cars and are keen to seek a superb car that needs nothing and isn’t suffering from the usual corrosion, this example should be seriously considered. The 320 engine, very high spec and desirable colour scheme make it very special indeed.
