Just taken in part exchange, this lovely 190E is a perfect daily driver. It’s rust free, drives absolutely beautifully and has covered just 58,750 miles from new.
First registered in 1990, this 2-litre 190E is finished in the very popular Smoke Silver with cream cloth, but unusually with the 5-speed manual gearbox. Electric windows all round and a Blaupunkt stereo add a little luxury but this one is more about quality of engineering than gadgets and trinkets.
With just 58,750 miles from new it’s no surprise this 190E was in the hands of an elderly couple for much of its life. Indeed the MoT history confirms that it has covered only around 8000 miles in the last ten years.
We have all books, manuals and spare keys. Part service history but with a recent major service at 57,000 miles was undertaken by IMAT MB in January of this year, amounting to £1300.
MoT until June 2017 with no advisories. Good tyres all round.
As the photos depict the 190E is very clean, tidy, well-cared for and free of rust. It looks very smart indeed, but there are a few cosmetic marks/scuffs that give away its 26 years.
Similarly, the cream interior is superb bar wear to the driver’s seat bolster and some inevitable peeling to the top of one rear door card.
On the road it drives absolutely beautifully. The manual gearbox offers a taller top gear over the automatic, making them superb motorway cruisers and surprisingly spritely.
All in all, a clean and tidy, low mileage 190E that’s come from a caring, enthusiast owner.
