Odometer: 101,910 Miles

This first generation R129 SL is finished in the very attractive colour scheme of Pearl Blue metallic over Andor Blue, contrasted by the Mushroom leather interior with a dark blue convertible top.

First supplied by MB main dealers, Reliance Motors of Chingford to a Mr Raines who kept the car until 2001/67k miles, when it was resold from Lancaster Hertford MB to a Mr Wraight. By 2004 it had covered 99k miles with a Full Mercedes Service History.
Subsequently the car has had two owners who barely used the car, keeping it in storage for most of their tenure and covering a couple of hundred miles a year.
By 2015, the SL was acquired by a retired Mercedes-Benz technician who carried out a thorough overhaul and recommissioning service. This included all fluids/filters change, refurbished alloy wheels, new tyres all round and complete brake overhaul along with a brand new hood and replacement of the hood ECU/control unit.

In short the car has full Mercedes history up to 99k miles, then spent a period off the road prior to a major recommission service. Today the mileage stands at just 101,910 miles.

This SL is in lovely original condition, unmodified and still retaining its two-tone paintwork, amber indicators and eight-hole alloy wheels. It still has it’s dealer sticker in the windscreen.
The body is in very good condition with largely original paintwork and no rust. As you can see from the photos, the wheel wells are extremely clean with the original paintwork shining through from behind the wheels. Similarly, the underside is very clean with no corrosion or oil leaks.
The engine bay is clean, tidy and original and benefits from a new under-bonnet sound deadening.
The wheels are unmarked and wear new tyres all round.
The interior is very clean throughout with original overmats. A later stereo is the only addition.
The hood is brand new.

The car comes with its original hardtop with storage stand, wind deflector, along with two keys, service book and history file.

The 24-valve engine is not particularly easy to find in these early SLs but it’s a wonderfully charismatic engine that loves to rev and provides superb performance. On the road the car drives beautifully – a great car for fast A-roads with the roof down.

In summary, this is a very pretty SL that, thanks to recent care and expenditure, is ready for the summer ahead and beyond. What fantastic value for money.
